CRP plays an important role to provide an enhanced clearance of inappropriate materials from the plasma, whether these are of extrinsic origin, such as microorganisms and their products or the autologous products of cell damage and death.
General description: C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is a first acute-phase plasma protein. It is synthesized in the hepatocyte and the concentration increase during inflammatory states even chronic inflammation. It′s level can increase during inflammation by up to 100 or 500 times. It acts as a systemic biomarker of acute inflammation and tissue damage.
