Biochem/physiol Actions:
CTSC (Cathepsin C), a lysosomal cysteine proteinase, belongs to the papain superfamily. It act as mediators of programmed cell death/apoptosis. Apoptosis pathways is dependent on lysosomal cathepsin activity. It plays a key role in protein degradation and proenzyme activation. It is synthesized as pre-proenzymes. Furthermore, they are post-translationally glycosylated and phosphorylated to active enzymes. Defects in CTSC in human causes Papillon-Lefevre syndrome, an autosomal recessive disorder.
Immunogen:
synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 376-390 of human CTSC
Physical Form: Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
Storage Temp.: −20°C
