Application: Rabbit polyclonal anti-E2F1 antibody is used to tag E2F transcription factor 1 for detection and quantitation by immunocytochemical and immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to determine the presence and roles of E2F transcription factor-1 in cell proliferation, apoptosis and tissue homeostasis.
General description: E2F transcription factor 1 (E2F1), a member of the E2F family of transcription factors, is involved in the regulation of the cell cycle. E2F1 mediates cell proliferation and p53-dependent and independent apoptosis. E2F1 binds preferentially to retinoblastoma protein pRB in a cell-cycle dependent manner. The Rb/E2F1 axis exerts essential functions such as maintaining epidermal homoeostasis and suppressing tumour development in tissues such as the epidermis.
