Biochem/physiol Actions:
HSF1 is a master regulator of chaperone protein expression. It mediates the cellular response to proteotoxic stimuli such as oxidative stress, temperature elevations, infections and exposure to heavy metals. HSF1 also regulates the expression of genes involved in protein degradation, metabolism, vesicular transport, cytoskeletal changes, survival and energy generation. The role of HSF1 pathway in innate immunity has been studied and has been reported to improve immunity against bacterial infection.
